How to sign a PDF by installing a CACert certificate in your Windows Store

CACert.org is a free community-based digital certificate authority. They are not rich enough to have got themselves added yet by default to the Windows Store. You have to add them yourself. But that's not my only trouble. I have trouble just getting my Personal Certificate to work sometimes because I don't really understand the way it's supposed to work. This cheat sheet will remind me.

Blessed Are You

Blessed are you landlords who keep rent affordable instead of fix and flip.
Blessed are you leaders who push budgets local.
Blessed are you who choose work you care about instead of ransack and run.
Blessed are you who see yourself in your opponents and your opponents in yourself.

Homophobia

The first time I heard the word homophobia I felt misunderstood and mocked. After all, I was not afraid of homosexuals or homosexuality. As a devout and fervent Latter-day Saint, being opposed to homosexuality was part of being a good team player and a matter of my religious faith.

Why part-time jobs are good and full-time jobs are harmful

In Thursday's debate between Senators Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders, an erroneous bit of conventional wisdom was invoked as usual without challenge. The idea is that part-time jobs are of low quality and full-time jobs are the desired norm. Only the unfortunate work multiple jobs. Some of our laws have been written to reinforce this norm. But the evil underbelly of this tenet is the persistent legacy of low wages.

Engineering sheet plan and notes arrangement

Many engineers have not discovered this, but a contractor taught me that it is very unwieldy for us to place the most important part of a sheet, namely the plan view, near the staples. When the wind is blowing on a project site, the less a plan has to be unrolled, the better. So it is always best for us to place the most important part of plan sheets far from the staple/binding edge.

This means the plan view should always be as far right as possible on our plans.

Property part 1

A shipfull of pioneer explorers dropped anchor in an uncharted cove and made camp. Every day people were found picking berries at a nearby berry patch.

NPS Global 1.0 - My first explanation of where NPS came from and how it became a reality this week

I guess I need to start telling the NPS story: No owners, Part-time freelancers, Small self-managing teams. The t-shirt shown summarizes the NPS values. There is a non-owned corporate account, about 8 people on the first team, and a pretty good history of projects through the pipeline since June. You could hire us, join us, advise us, help us, or copy us. At the moment, what we need most is another P.E. or more.

Salt Lake City nurse roughly arrested for following Supreme Court decision - Payne and the Book of Mormon's Nephi

The story has been in the headlines for days now with amazing staying power. It's the story of Salt Lake City police detective Jeff Payne's rough arrest of nurse Alex Wubbels for refusing to let him draw blood from an unconscious crash victim. Without regard to the facts of the religious background of Payne, the parallels of the story with the beloved LDS scriptural story of Nephi and the Plates of Laban are striking.
